Raymond Ramirez, DVM

DR. RAYMOND RAMIREZ

Raymond J. Ramirez received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1986 from the University of Illinois. He first worked in an emergency clinic in the Chicago area for a year, then moved to Milwaukee, WI to work in an animal hospital. Two years later, he started doing doing relief (locum tenens) work. He did this for five years in Wisconsin, then relocated to Illinois and continued to do locum tenens for another 13 years. From 1989 through 2007, he worked in over 100 different clinics across Illinois and Wisconsin.

Living in Central Illinois but working in Chicago or St. Louis every week was draining for both Dr. Ramirez and his family. So in 2007, he purchased Lakeview Veterinary Clinic. Since then, he has updated the systems and continues to keep up-to-date with the latest research and technology to help pets live the best lives they can.

Over his 28 years of veterinary experience, Dr. Ramirez has encountered many pets and strives to help them live the best life possible for as long as possible. He speaks at state and regional veterinary conferences. He lives in East Peoria, Illinois with his wife, children, and their pets.

His mission is to help veterinarians take a big picture approach to their practice and their family, and to not miss out on the most important aspect of practice life. He also greatly wants to help non owners (staff and associates) realize the challenges that owners face and that these challenges are not insurmountable. And with some relatively simple strategic planning, that they, too, can become a practice owner. He recently published The Reluctant Practice Owner: Seven Things They Don't Tell You about Practice Ownership.
